86 Safe Wallets Compromised in Chain Attack…$3 Million Stolen, Exploiting External Module Vulnerability
According to blockchain security firm Blockaid, hackers exploited a vulnerability in the third-party module 'SquidRouterModule' to steal approximately $3 million from 86 Safe wallets. The attack occurred over about two hours, involving liquidity manipulation and fake Uniswap V3 swaps. This incident was not a direct breach of the wallet's core infrastructure. Safe and security firms explained that some wallets had granted pre-approval permissions to the external module, which hackers then exploited to execute transactions without user signatures. Specifically, the 'executeSameChainActions()' function of the vulnerable module became a pathway for impersonating a trusted user.
